Hey  [[contact.first_name]],

In my last email, I wrote about the importance of not getting too fancy and just focusing on fundamentals.

In line with that idea, there's one area of fitness where people worry too much about the tiny details…

And as you've probably guessed from the title of this email, I'm talking about the endless questions surrounding when you should take a post-workout shake.

So, to avoid dragging this out for too long, here’s the simple answer.

The best time to take a post-workout shake is...

Whenever is most convenient for you.

When it comes to maximizing your workout, the science has repeatedly shown that when you take your protein is not nearly as significant as taking enough protein.

So you need to worry about losing all your progress if you haven't had any protein within a few minutes of your workout.

That said, your goals should also be a determining factor.

If your goal is fat loss, this means your workouts involve some form of cardio which makes your body lose fluids at an extremely fast rate.

To mitigate this effect, you should quickly ingest a post-workout containing electrolytes - essential minerals that do a much better job than regular water when it comes to replenishing lost fluids.

If your goal is muscle building, then as long as you're ingesting enough protein throughout the day, it's not absolutely crucial that you take your post-workout immediately.

You should, however, ensure that besides protein, your post-workout also has an adequate dose of vitamins and minerals to help your body fully absorb the protein you're taking in.

So to summarise…

You generally don't need to take your post-workout immediately after your workout - especially if you're not doing much cardio.

You should, however, ensure that your post-workout has the right nutrient profile to meet the requirements of your goals.

And if your current post workout shake consists only of protein, then it's high time you got yourself the Recovery Shake.

Due to our science-first approach, we've added in not just 25g of protein but also electrolytes, micronutrients, soreness-reducing antioxidants and a host of other ingredients that are proven to help you maximize the results from your workouts.
